2021 SMART-U18 Division / Open Division Annual Tournament will be held

The 2021 SMART-U18 division / general divisions annual Tournament will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 in a remote live format using Zoom.

Last year, due to the influence of the new coronavirus infection, we had to cancel the 2020 SMART-U18 division / general division annual tournament. We are very sorry to many people who were aiming to participate.

The SMART Steering Committee has been searching for a new format to see if it can be held even though it is in a very difficult situation. The other day (August 23, 2021), the U15 division annual tournament was held in a remote live format as the first attempt, and if the network environment can be prepared at each venue and coronavirus infection control measures can be taken, the tournament can be held. We were able to get a response that it is. We also found that there are some unique advantages to the remote live. Therefore, we decided to hold the 2021 SMART-U18 division / general division annual tournament in a remote live as well as the U15 division tournament.

The 2021 SMART-U18 division / general division annual tournament will be the 20th game to commemorate SMART. We are very pleased to be able to hold this milestone tournament in a new style called remote live under the new SMART logo.
Participation requirements and competition agendas for the game will be released on Tuesday, September 21, 2021. We look forward to the entry of many teams.

Release New SMART Logo

2020 was the 20th anniversary of SMART. However, the 20th anniversary annual tournament was canceled due to the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection, and SMART’s activities themselves were subject to various restrictions. The SMART Steering Committee has decided to renew the logo as an anniversary event to look back on the significance and results of activities that have been active for 20 years and to pray for further development in the future.
The new logo of SMART is designed with the following in mind.

  • Design that can be imagined as a robot competition using LEGO Mindstorms
  • Expressing the 20th anniversary with a design that connects two blocks
  • Inheriting the image colors of SMART, red and black
  • Emphasizes simplicity and friendliness
  • Design independent of the word “SMART”

We hope that the logo will be loved by many people as SMART grows in the future.
